Washington Park's two retail streets don't end their outdoor seasons together. South Pearl Street runs two event series, each on a fixed calendar, and both end within ten days of each other, on October 30 and November 8. Old South Gaylord Street runs one-off weekend events on a single block, and its calendar goes on to November 22. From Friday, October 30, until the weekend before Thanksgiving, the street with something happening changes week by week.
The move from one street to the other is predictable, and the details matter for anyone who lives within walking distance of either. Pearl and Gaylord set different hours, use different blocks, and have different rules for dogs.
Five dates across three weekends
- Friday, October 30, 5 p.m. to dark. South Pearl's last Final Friday art walk of the year, on the 1400 to 1600 blocks.
- Saturday, October 31, 3 to 6 p.m. Trick or Treat Street on the 1000 block of Old South Gaylord.
- Sunday, November 8, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The last Sunday of the South Pearl Street Farmers Market, on the 1400 to 1500 blocks.
- Saturday, November 21, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Day one of Firefly Handmade's outdoor Holiday Market on Old South Gaylord.
- Sunday, November 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Day two of the same market.
The first and third dates belong to Pearl, and both are the last events of a series. The second, fourth and fifth belong to Gaylord, and each one stands on its own. That difference sets the calendar for the rest of the fall.
Pearl closes on a schedule it set in the spring
Both of Pearl's outdoor series were planned as one season. Final Friday runs on the last Friday of each month from June through October. The 2026 dates were June 26, July 31, August 28, September 25 and October 30. The South Pearl district describes it as a family-friendly alternative to First Friday art walks, with artists giving live demonstrations on the sidewalks and vintage vendors set up along the street. It runs from 5 p.m. until sundown. In late October that leaves a short evening, so arriving early gives you the most daylight on the blocks.
The South Pearl Street Farmers Market has run every Sunday since May 3 and ends on November 8. The district puts the market at more than 170 vendors, with live music, Colorado produce, pastries, coffee and flowers on the 1400 to 1500 blocks. That makes November 8 the last chance this year for Sunday shopping on Pearl with that many vendors in one place.
Because both series follow a calendar set months ahead, Pearl's outdoor season ends all at once. After November 8, the street goes back to its storefronts.
Gaylord fits its weekends into one block
Old South Gaylord does it differently. Its events take over the 1000 block, between Tennessee and Mississippi avenues, for a few hours or a weekend, and then the street reopens.
Trick or Treat Street falls on a Saturday this year. Local businesses along the block hand out treats from 3 to 6 p.m. The district has added a costume contest, a red carpet and a photographer for 2026, and it describes lights strung overhead and jack-o'-lanterns along the sidewalks.
Three weeks later, Firefly Handmade brings its holiday market back to the same block. Firefly's page lists more than 80 artists, makers and designers, food and drink, and a full slate of live music from Colorado artists. Admission is free. Firefly's own calendar lists it among its 2026 markets on November 21 and 22. The Old South Gaylord events page lists only the 2024 edition, under past events, so Firefly's page is the one to go by for this year's dates.
So when Pearl's season ends on November 8, Gaylord still has a two-day outdoor market ahead of it.
Dogs, parking and street closures differ by block
The practical rules change from one event to the next.
| Event | Block | Hours | Dogs | Parking guidance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Final Friday, Oct. 30 | 1400–1600 S. Pearl | 5 p.m. to sundown | Not specified | Street and garage parking |
| Trick or Treat Street, Oct. 31 | 1000 S. Gaylord | 3–6 p.m. | Not specified | Not specified |
| Farmers market finale, Nov. 8 | 1400–1500 S. Pearl | 9 a.m.–1 p.m. | No pets allowed | Not specified |
| Firefly Holiday Market, Nov. 21–22 | 1000 S. Gaylord | 10 a.m.–4 p.m. | Pup friendly | Neighboring streets; Gaylord closed |
The dog rules are the clearest difference. The farmers market posts a flat "No Pets Allowed," and Firefly bills its market as family and pup friendly. That means a Sunday walk with the dog fits the last weekend of the season on Gaylord but not the last weekend on Pearl.
Parking matters more on Gaylord. Firefly says South Gaylord Street is closed during the market, suggests parking on neighboring streets, and warns that those blocks are regularly monitored, so read the signs. For navigation apps, Firefly gives 1004 S. Gaylord St. as the market address.
The storefronts that stay open after the street events
When the street events end, the businesses along both blocks stay open. Here is what each block offers.
On Old South Gaylord, the 1004 address Firefly uses belongs to Devil's Food Bakery. The district's directory, updated in late summer, also lists Homegrown Tap & Dough at 1001, Max Gill & Grill at 1052, Sweet Action Ice Cream at 1061, Perdida at 1066 and Reiver's Restaurant at 1085. Shops include Trunk Show at 1002, The Paper Lady at 1018, Modern Bungalow at 1028 and Barbara & Co at 1067. At the south end of the block, The Wash Park Social at 1096 S. Gaylord took over the former Wash Park Grille space. The Denver Post reported in March that the new restaurant planned to open at the end of April, and its own site now says it is open. The directory lists Uncle Tim's Tasting Room at 1080 S. Gaylord as coming soon.
On South Pearl, the restaurants are clustered near the market blocks: Sukiya Ramen at 1472, Izakaya Den at 1487-A, Ototo at 1501 and Uno Mas at 1585. For browsing, there are Murder by the Book at 1573, Second Star to the Right Books at 1455, Gallery 1505 at 1505 and Nora's Retro at 1509, and Hazel Art Bar at 1581 has been on the block since 2018.
Pearl's newest Sunday morning stop opened this year, north of the market blocks. Axios Denver reported in June that Milly's Bagels had held its grand opening at 712½ S. Pearl St., serving sourdough bagels with a rear patio. Milly's website lists hours of 8 a.m. to noon, Tuesday through Sunday. Axios reported slightly longer hours at opening, so check before making a late-morning trip.
Business directories can fall behind openings and closures, so a quick check of a shop's own site before you go saves a wasted walk.
One Pearl Street address to watch over the winter
The quiet months on Pearl may also show what the street adds next. BusinessDen reported on July 22 that Outwest Investments had proposed a two-story building at 1550 S. Pearl St., with a ground-floor restaurant and offices above. As of that report, no restaurant tenant had been chosen and no opening date had been announced. The address sits within the farmers market's 1400 to 1500 block footprint, so whatever is built there will open into the middle of Pearl's busiest Sunday stretch when the market returns.
At The Galansky Group, we track blocks like these the same way we track listings, because knowing which street is busy on which weekend is part of knowing Washington Park.
